Sewing at the Beach 2013

Here we go again…  The hustle and bustle of the holidays don’t slow down for me until the week after Sewing at the beach. I am in the throws of kit making and packing.

There was a confusion last year the wrong classes, I am teaching two of those this year! I will now post to make sure everyone has what they need just in case you don’t have the brochure handy….

The shadow work pear  which I haven’t taught until now at SATB will be on Wednesday January 16th!  For all the information on what to bring….

basic sewing supplies include a pair of sharp small scissors
an open toe foot for your machine
4-6 empty bobbins (for winding thread to use a twin needle and to match the  top threads)
2.0 twin needle
one universal machine needle 75-80 for decorative stitching and for construction
White thread for construction and if you have a self threading hand needle….. that comes in handy!

Now… look into your thread stash…

I used embroidery thread in one sample and construction thread in the other for the decorative stitching so it’s your choice.
Bring a dark pink  thread…. I used Madeira Rayon 1117  and Coats and Clark 32c  somewhere in that range of bright pinks
Bring a green in the shade of kelly to middle green family I used Madeira polyneon 1968 and also coats number 62
you may want to add a bit of a bright yellow…
or you may like the look of the very light pinks or light greens…. you will have time to experiment and try before you make the project.

This will be a very special day so come and enjoy the moment and learn or relearn this wonderful technigue.

Saturday Jan 19th is my Sizzix day class. I have taught this in different ways and this time since I am told I will have children as well I am modeling it after the class in Greenville:

We work on a pillow top (or some ladies made a simple tote bag)

The supplies you need are as follows. Machine and basic supplies. You do not need to have an embroidery machine this is machine work and any machine will work! Bring your freemotion quilting foot and an open toe foot for your machine. You will want a few favorite fabrics in your color scheme. Fat quarter or odd sizes  will be fine. Sharing is encouraged. Bring matching and assorted threads to decorate your pillow top. The base fabric will be supplied and fabric scraps for the “shapes,” but bring what you may like for  a border or just wait and see and buy something perfect in the market. This is a fun and open class with room for lots of creativity!

Evening classes:

I’m not totally sure of what day, but I am teaching a vintage machine attachment class and you will just need pen and paper as this is a demonstration class.
